LOS ANGELES (CBS) — It’ll be two years in jail for a former Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy who used a burrito to smuggle drugs into a courthouse lockup.

Henry Marin, 27, was ordered Monday to spend two years in custody after pleading no contest in April to one count of bringing drugs into a jail, Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office officials said.

Prosecutors say Marin accepted a heroin-packed burrito from a woman cooperating with a Sheriff’s Department investigation to take into the lockup at the Airport Branch Courthouse on Feb. 23, 2010. The district attorney’s office says the exchange took place outside the courtroom where Marin was assigned, and detectives stopped him before he went back inside.

As part of his plea deal, a conspiracy charge against Marin was dropped.

Marin resigned from the Sheriff’s Department before entering his no contest plea.
